As amazing as the dunk was, you don’t want to see it happen to your guy. Kendrick Perkins became that guy for Oklahoma City.
Perkins is one of the toughest players in the league and an enforcer for the Thunder. Griffin dunking on him like that is some kind of message to send.
Thunder fans can be happy about some of the reactions by Thunder players on the dunk.
Perkins: “It happens. At the end of the day, if you’re a shot blocker, you’re going to get dunked on. It was a great play that he made. Obviously, I wish I wasn’t in it, but it was a great play that he made.”
Durant: “Man, I don’t care about that dunk.”
Here’s what Griffin had to say: “When they play the replay over the Jumbotron, you hear the crowd. DJ’s reaction is always my gauge on what the dunk was like. I think that time he screamed, grabbed me and bear-hugged me. I figure he thought it was cool.”
I love Durant’s quote. He really is a sore loser and ultra-competitive athlete.
The next time these two teams meet isn’t until March 21 when the Thunder will host them. And then hopefully they’ll play 4-7 more times sometime in the playoffs.
