For games played between Jan. 23-29, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week.
The Thunder went 3-0 last week beating the Pistons, Hornets and then Warriors. Westbrook averaged 22.0 points, 7.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game during that stretch.
Westbrook has seemingly turned up his play after receiving the 5-year, $80 million extension a little over a week ago.
Westbrook becomes the second Thunder player to win the award this season with of course Kevin Durant being the other.
Westbrook and Durant are both off to nice starts for winning the award this current week as both had impressive individual performances in the team’s loss to the Clippers last night.
LeBron James won the award in the Eastern Conference this past week.
