Derek Fisher was spotted at the Will Rogers World Airport this morning with Oklahoma City Thunder GM Sam Presti and is expected to sign with the Thunder later today when he clears waivers at 6 p.m. EST.
Kevin Durant gave his support of the Thunder signing Fisher yesterday.
Fisher played and started in 43 games with the Los Angeles Lakers this season beforing being dealt to Houston for Jordan Hill last week at the trade deadline. In 25.6 minutes per game Fisher was averaging 5.9 points and 3.3 assists per game.
Fisher will fill a void in the Thunder’s bench as the backup point guard and should provide leadership and valuable experience to a relatively young Thunder team. Fisher’s influence is expected to be most valuable on starting point guard Russell Westbrook.
Fisher shouldn’t be playing 25 minutes a game with Oklahoma City but the 12-15 minutes he probably will be giving them should be more productive than Reggie Jackson’s minutes this year.
