Dallas, Denver update and who the Thunder will play in Round 1

Coming into tonight it was going to be decided who the Oklahoma City Thunder would play in their first round playoff series.

Dallas was one game behind Denver for the sixth seed in the Western Conference. If Dallas wins tonight and Denver loses then Dallas would jump Denver and avoid the Thunder in the first round.

At halftime of both games tonight, Dallas is trailing Atlanta 60-44 and Denver is leading Minnesota 61-42.

Unless two miracle comebacks happen, it looks as if the Thunder will get Dallas Saturday night.

The Thunder lost to the Mavericks in five games in the Western Conference Finals last year. Dallas of course went on to win the title riding the hot hand of Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki torched the Thunder in Game 1 of that series scoring 48 points while going 12-for-15 from the field and 24-of-24 at the line.

Oklahoma City played Denver last season in the first round and beat them handily in five games.

This isn’t the same Dallas team that they had last season but they do still have Nowitzki who was the main reason the Thunder lost that series.
