LeBron James fires back at Serge Ibaka calling him ‘stupid’

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

LeBron James has responded to Serge Ibaka’s comments from yesterday when he said LeBron isn’t a “good defender” and couldn’t guard Kevin Durant.

“I don’t really care what he says, he’s stupid,” LeBron said. “Everyone says something to me every series, then (the media) tries to get a quote. It’s stupid.”

LeBron is right that this whole thing is stupid but it’s a little shocking him calling Ibaka stupid.

Just like when reading Ibaka’s comments they sounded worse than if you would imagine him saying it, the same is probably true with what LeBron said today.

Here is what Ibaka said yesterday:

“LeBron is not a good defender. He can play defense for two to three minutes but not 48 minutes. LeBron can’t play (Durant) one-on-one.”

To be fair, Ibaka saying LeBron is not a good defender is kind of stupid but LeBron saying Ibaka himself is stupid isn’t very fair. Whether LeBron meant it or not, he should not have allowed that to slip out in those exact words.

This is what LeBron was talking about though. We’re even taking his quotes about the media blowing up quotes and blowing it up.

Game 4 of the NBA Finals will be tonight at 9 p.m. EST on ABC in Miami. LeBron has been great all series while Ibaka has been up and down, most recently he did not play the fourth quarter in Game 3.
