Tibor Pleiss signs 4-year deal in Spain, won’t be playing for OKC Thunder next year

Tibor Pleiss, who played in Germany this year, was thought to maybe be coming over to America to play with the Oklahoma City Thunder next season.

Pleiss signed a 4-year deal to play ball in Spain, according to Sportando.

Caja Laboral made official the signings of Fabien Causeur and Tibor Pleiss to a four-year deal. Causeur comes from Cholet with whom he averaged 16ppg in Pro A, Pleiss spent the season with Brose Baskets Bamberg winning the German title averaging 8.3ppg and 5.5rpg in regular season.

The Thunder acquired the rights to Pleiss after he was drafted 31st overall in 2010. Pleiss is a 7-foot-1 center who can step out and hit jumpers. With Nazr Mohammed’s contract ending this summer, Pleiss could have been a potential replacement.

Pleiss averaged 6.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in Euroleague and 10.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in Bundesliga.

This was a wasted pick, but that’s what happens with some of these foreign guys. This draft is VERY deep so we should find someone late in the first that could give some minutes next year.

Presti said he’d pick a guy this year if it was someone that would fit great but they are rumored to be trading this pick or taking another international guy so that they have as much money possible for keeping Harden and Ibaka.
