The Oklahoma City Thunder have filled their 15-man roster for the 2011-12 season and will be parting ways with three players from last year’s team: Derek Fisher, Nazr Mohammed and Royal Ivey.
The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly going to sign Ivey to come on and be their backup point guard, according to phillyblurbs.com. Ivey is believed to sign on for $1.23 million per season.
Ivey played for the 76ers from 2008-10 before coming to the Thunder. Ivey played the last two seasons with OKC and appeared in 59 games for them.
Ivey averaged 2.1 points per game last season and got some decent playing time while Thabo Sefolosha was injured. He established himself as a solid defender and reliable spot-up 3-point shooter shooting .340 percent from beyond the arc on the year.
Jrue Holiday started at point guard for the 76ers last season but they have parted ways with their backup point and super sixth man Lou Williams. Ivey will come in and do his best to fill that void.
Fisher and Mohammed are now the two final Thunder players from last season still in search of a team for next season. Fisher has gained interest from many teams including the Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.
There hasn’t been much news yet about where Mohammed may end up.
