Things got chippy between Team USA and Argentina at the end of the third quarter then Russell Westbrook did this.
Westbrook might be the most exuberant dunker in the NBA and against Argentina gave us the best one of the 2012 London Olympics so far.
It was a dunk that was reminiscent of what Vince Carter did 12 years ago vs. France. Same kind of takeoff, almost the same kind of poster. The Argentina defender was just a little smarter.
The U.S. led 60-59 at halftime then really turned up the intensity in the third quarter and outscored Argentina 42-17 in the period. LeBron James got things started scoring nine quick points then Kevin Durant took over with 17 points and five threes in the quarter.
Team USA has played a little sloppy on defense the past few games. Perhaps they became to lax after their easy victories over Tunisia and Nigeria but they definitely looked better in the second half vs. Argentna.
The U.S. will finish pool play undefeated at 5-0 as the 1-seed and will see Australia in the quarterfinals of the medal round beginning Wednesday. Brazil and Argentina will be the 2- and 3-seeds in their bracket. The 1-4 seeds in the other bracket will be Russia, France, Spain and Lithuania in that order.
