Video: James Harden hosts party for friend upon return to OKC

James Harden is back in Oklahoma City. This is kind of important because Kendrick Perkins said two weeks ago that once Harden got back to OKC and saw his friends and family, it would be a done deal that he’d reach an agreement on an extension with the Thunder.

First things first though for Harden. He hosted a birthday party for his friend Akili (@thacelebbarber) on Sept. 21 and the video above is some of what took place. As you can see, Harden is being awesome because it’s impossible for him to be any other way. Russell Westbrook makes an appearance in the video too and seems to be enjoying himself.

This isn’t the first time there have been videos or photos of Harden out and about partying. There were some photos of him at an all white yacht party last month which sparked Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman to call out Harden somewhat saying that he needs OKC to keep him from partying too much and focusing on his game. There were also pictures of Harden going out on South Beach during the NBA Finals.

This video and party are obviously no big deal. The point is that Harden is back in OKC and it’s time for the negotiations with Thunder GM Sam Presti to continue. The Thunder have until Oct. 31 to sign Harden to an extension otherwise he becomes a restricted free agent next summer.

Harden tweeted today: “Life is good…”

He is happy in Oklahoma City and loves his life there. He wants to stay and hopefully Perkins is right. It’s just been a few days since he’s come back but I have a good feeling about Harden deciding to accept a little less cash to remain with the Thunder for the next five years.

The feeling was always that the Thunder would extend Harden at this time. It wasn’t until they extended Serge Ibaka first and a few other quotes surfaced about other teams being interested in Harden and Harden saying he wouldn’t mind playing in Phoenix.

Taking a step back from the situation and all the recent hearsay, I say Harden is still most likely to sign an extension with the Thunder soon.
