In the Oklahoma City Thunder’s first preseason game two days ago vs. the Houston Rockets, they were without three of their starters.
Kendrick Perkins and Thabo Sefolosha were both out nursing injuries and Serge Ibaka was a late scratch to the lineup too.
The Thunder will play their second preseason game tonight on the road vs. Utah and Ibaka will be back in the lineup. James Harden, however, will sit this one out with a groin injury.
Harden struggled in the first preseason game going 0-for-5 in the first half and finishing 3-for-11 from the field with nine points.
None of these injuries for the Thunder are any cause for concern though. In the preseason for a team like the Thunder, you’re almost looking for a reason not to play your best players. The Thunder will play their first home preseason game on Tuesday and Harden will be evaluated when the team returns back to OKC.
The Thunder started Westbrook, Cook, Hayward, Durant and Aldrich vs. the Rockets. Ibaka will hop back in the starting lineup tonight which will leave one more starting spot open at shooting guard for either Cook, Hayward or possibly DeAndre Liggins who looked very good in the first preseason game.
