The Oklahoma City Thunder won their sixth straight game Tuesday night to improve to 15-4 on the year. They beat the Brooklyn Nets on the road 117-111 behind 60.6 percent shooting from the field.
The Thunder were shooting lights out in the first half near 70 percent then cooled down in the second as Brooklyn started hitting from the outside to come back in the game. The Nets made 14 threes in the game and outrebounded the Thunder 40-33 to keep the game close.
Deron Williams led the Nets with 33 points and seven assists while Kris Humphries and Andray Blatche each had double-doubles.
Here are the Game Grades for the Thunder players:
Kevin Durant – 42 minutes, 32 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists – A
Durant was making everything in the first half then started taking a few too many jumpers in the second as they stopped falling. He was extremely aggressive and made all 12 of his free throw attempts and created a lot of things driving to the basket.
Russell Westbrook – 34 minutes, 25 points, 9 assists, 2 rebounds – B+
Westbrook probably lost the point guard battle between Williams but he still had a pretty nice game. The assists are great but he did turn the ball over five times. He had three steals and continues this run of being a menace defensively in the passing lanes.
Serge Ibaka – 35 minutes, 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks – B+
Ibaka’s jumper was on point tonight as he made it in a variety of ways. It wasn’t just open spot-up looks but he was taking his man off the dribble and spinning into short pull-ups. His offensive growth is so impressive and tonight was one of his better games of the year.
Kevin Martin – 27 minutes, 7 points, 2 rebounds – C
Martin was a little passive tonight and was therefore not on the floor for crunch time. There was a moment where Durant got mad at Martin for not taking an open shot which kind of sums up the game for him.
Kendrick Perkins – 27 minutes, 7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists – B
Perkins had a nice game but you would have liked him to do a better job grabbing rebounds. The Nets had 16 offensive rebounds and the Thunder only had two with Perkins getting none.
Thabo Sefolosha – 37 minutes, 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist – A
Sefolosha was hot from the start which has been a trend for him this season. He made a huge layup late from an offensive rebound to seal the win for OKC. He did his best defensively against Williams and Joe Johnson and did alright.
Nick Collison – 18 minutes, 5 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block – B+
Collison always gives great minutes but tonight his impact wasn’t what it always is. He took a big charge at one point when Brooklyn had a lot of momentum going for them that was huge. Bur zero offensive rebounds is not a good thing.
Eric Maynor – 14 minutes, 9 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound – A
This was Maynor’s best game in awhile and the Thunder needed it. He was creating a lot more than usual and nine points is big for him. If this Maynor can keep showing up the Thunder will be in great shape.
Hasheem Thabeet – 6 minutes, 0 points, 0 rebounds, 1 steal – C
Thabeet hardly played and did basically nothing while he was out there. Brooklyn went small for most of the second half so Thabeet simply was not needed.
