Nike stands behind Kevin Durant in Oklahoma tornado victims relief effort

Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder became a hero in the real sense a few weeks back when he donated $1 million to the Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts of the tornado victims of Moore, Oklahoma.

It was an act that exemplified Durant’s generosity and commitment to the community that he has earned a reputation for.

Durant definitely set the tone in terms of athletes and people from the sports world reaching out to help with this tragedy.

Nike has backed its superstar baller in the relief effort, matching KD’s donation of $1 million as well as all profits of Durant’s new shoe (pictured above), the Oklahoma City KD V Elites that are sold on or in Nike Retail Stores between May 23 and June 15.

The official release from Nike:

Nike stands with Kevin Durant to support the victims of the Oklahoma tornadoes. Nike will donate $1M worth of Nike products to those affected by the tornadoes, and all profits from Oklahoma City KD V Elites sold on and in Nike Retail Stores between May 23 and June 15 will be donated equally between KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that builds playgrounds for children in need, and the Moore Public School Foundation, an Oklahoma non-profit that supports the Moore Public School District.

I think I speak for everyone here and who lives in Oklahoma, thank you Kevin Durant and thank you Nike!
