One of the highest projected players that has visited with the Oklahoma City Thunder leading up to the NBA Draft is Maryland’s Alex Len.
Len is now considered to be a potential top five pick by most accounts and even has some buzz as a potential number one overall pick.
The Thunder are among five teams that Len has visited with.
Len has already visited five teams — the New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Charlotte Bobcats — and is scheduled to meet with the Cleveland Cavaliers later this week. The Times-Picayune of New Orleans reported Monday that the Cavaliers are considering taking Len with the top pick in the draft.
Aside from maybe Nerlens Noel, Len looks to be the best big man in this draft and the Thunder are definitely interested in getting their hands on a talented, young big.
The Thunder currently have the 12th, 29th and 32nd picks in the 2013 draft. A rumor came out yesterday that they may be interested in acquiring the 13th overall pick in the draft from the Dallas Mavericks.
If the Thunder were able to trade possibly their two later picks for the 13th and then possess the 12th and 13th, they may be able to trade up into the top five to go after Len.
It’s a long shot at this point because it’s really starting to feel like Len might even be a top three pick, and if that’s the case, then there are some teams out there that really like him.
He would be a great fit for the Thunder if they are somehow able to get their hands on him. He seems like he would be able to play pretty quickly in the NBA and have a chance to beat out Hasheem Thabeet for the backup center role in the rotation.
