NBA Mock Draft Round-up: OKC Thunder and Shabazz Muhammad?

The 2013 NBA Draft is now less than a week away. It will be this Thursday and the Oklahoma City Thunder will be one of the teams to watch as they have three picks, including the 12th overall selection.

Most people think the Thunder will go with a big man with their lottery selection. Unless there isn’t a player that they love, then they may decide to just take an international player they can stash overseas for awhile.

Here’s a round-up of who some of the most prominent mock drafts have the Thunder taking in the first round:

ESPN’s Chad Ford
12. Steven Adams, Pittsburgh
29. Alex Abrines, Spain
12. C.J. McCollum, Lehigh
29. Glen Rice, Jr., D-League
12. Steven Adams, Pittsburgh
29. Alex Abrines, Spain

CBS Sports
12. Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA; Gorgui Dieng, Louisville
29. Archie Goodwin, Kentucky; Ricky Ledo, Providence

Steven Adams is still the most popular pick for the Thunder at No. 12. A few interesting predictions are also McCollum and Muhammad.

McCollum is more likely to be off the board by the time the Thunder are selecting. If he is available, the Thunder should take him.

Muhammad may very well be available at No. 12. It is unknown if Sam Presti and the Thunder like Muhammad but if they do, they should be able to draft him. Muhammad was once considered to be a top pick in this draft and many believe he still has All-Star upside.

If the Thunder don’t go international with the 29th pick, expect them to try and snag a three-and-defense guy. Rice could be that for them. Goodwin is more of just defense but his athleticism would be welcoming to the Thunder.
