Video: Steven Adams vs. Nerlens Noel from two years ago

This is video from a few yards ago in high school when Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel went head-to-head.

At this time, Noel was definitely being thought of as a top pick while Adams was relatively unknown.

Adams is still raw today and in this video, definitely is as well. Adams will be a project for the Thunder who can hopefully replace Kendrick Perkins in a few years as the starting center of the future.

Even in this video, Adams showed off some of his midrange skills, which had scouts elevating his stock after his showing at the draft combine.

A solid midrange game is always nice for a big man, but for the Thunder who already have a big shooting jumpers in Serge Ibaka, it doesn’t feel quite as valuable. The Thunder would prefer a guy who can score with his back to the basket, something that is a long way from happening for Adams at the NBA level.

Adams was impressive and solid during the Orlando Summer League. Some said they believe he is more NBA-ready than he was expected to be.

That being said, we know where he’ll be next season and that’s with the Tulsa 66ers. Even if he is ready to contribute in the NBA, there’s little chance he gets a shot with the Thunder next season.

I don’t care what anyone says, Steven Adams will have James Harden eating his childish tweet in a few years. There’s something special about him, and he’s only had limited high quality coaching. Team first mentality, quiet confidence, desperation to learn, high energy, huge frame & wingspan will take him a long way in this league. Not yet convinced about genuine athleticism but people keep talking about it. He could already play in the video, but wait until he’s had a year or two in the OKC program. Back to the basket ability really just means you are gigantic and have some moves…don’t worry, this dude will be a high quality player.

AGREE!!! EXPERTS ALWAYS DOUBT HIS ABILITIES FOR SOME REASONS. WHEN THEY DRAFTED HIM AT FIRST THYE SAID HE’D BE WEAK AND WOULD NOT SCORE, NOW THAT HE BROUGHT IN THE SCORES, THEY STILL CRITICIZE IT FOR NOT BEING ENOUGH – DAMN IF YOU DO, DAMN IF YOU DON’T…
