For the last week or so, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies have been considered as the most likely teams to sign Mike Miller, who was amnestied by the Miami Heat this summer.

Now the Houston Rockets appear to be making a strong push for Miller, according to reports.

Mike Conley also apparently called Miller personally and offered him “golf on me for a whole year” if he chooses the Grizzlies over the Thunder, according to Stein.

I’m not surprised the Rockets are emerging as a serious contender in the Miller sweepstakes. Houston would be a great fit for his game and utilizes three-point spot-up shooting as well as anyone in the league, a trend that should only be enhanced with the acquisition of Dwight Howard.

Miller in OKC would be nice but again, it won’t be the end of the world if the Thunder don’t land him. He could help out and be a big in the playoffs but it’s no guarantee.

The Thunder have some other options too potentially like Stephen Jackson or even Gary Neal since the Spurs withdrew their qualifying offer for him yesterday.

Stephen Jackson because he plays both ends of the court would be a better choice for the Thunder. Miller is injury prone and plays no defense. Jackson would love to stick it to the Spurs in a Thunder uniform given how he was dismissed by “Pop” toward the end of the season.
