Daryl Morey says OKC Thunder are better than Houston Rockets

With the Houston Rockets acquiring Dwight Howard this summer, many have them pegged as one of the best teams in the league and capable of winning a championship this season.

The visionary GM in Houston, Daryl Morey, is keeping a good perspective and says there are three teams at least that are better than the Rockets:

Presented with the Heat, the Thunder and the Spurs, Morey said, “I think those three, I would say going in for sure are better than us, and they’ve definitely proven more. I think the Bulls and the Pacers they’re very good as well this year. I am hoping we are in the mix with them, maybe equal quality.”

It’s not really going out on much of a limb putting the Heat and Spurs ahead of the Rockets, but including the Thunder shows how much respect Morey has for them.

A lot of people are really down on the Thunder, since they didn’t make any moves this summer, and are quick to pull the trigger in putting teams like Houston ahead of them.

As long as Russell Westbrook comes back healthy, I see no reason why the Thunder won’t still be one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and better than Houston.

It’s a good matchup for OKC too. They proved they can contain James Harden, other than the one game where he just went off. Dwight Howard has also never been a problem for the Thunder to deal with.

Houston will definitely be better, but the acquisition of Howard doesn’t give OKC as much trouble as it will other teams.
