In case you missed it yesterday, Jalen Rose predicted that Kevin Durant will leave for Houston when his contract is up in 2016, and Russell Westbrook will go to LA.
Durant responded to those predictions after the Bulls game last night.
Q: Did you hear what Jalen Rose said about the Houston thing?
Do you have any thoughts on that?
Nah, I’m here for the Thunder (laughs). I mean, that’s all I can say. I’m not thinking far down the line at all. It’s about today. Today we got better against the Chicago Bulls. I can’t tell the future. I can’t speak on that. That’s his opinion. I’m just going to keep playing for the Thunder. I love playing here.
People probably will continue to say that for the next three years.
How do you deal with that?
I mean, just let them know I’m not thinking that far down the line, I guess. I mean, I love my teammates. I love where I live. I love playing for this organization. So I’m just taking it a day at a time.
Durant rarely says much to stir the pot and this is another example of that.
What can he say really?
It really is so far in the future and so much could happen between now and then. There’s definitely no reason for Durant to be thinking like that.
One reason people might think that KD could have something like this in the back of his head, is the rumors about LeBron, Wade and Bosh talking about joining forces back in 2008.
All we need to know is this: Durant wants to win, he wants to win in OKC, he doesn’t want to leave. Things could change in 2016 but the Thunder have the ability to do things to make Durant want to stay by that time.
