Waking up this Christmas morning, Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks was going to be a game-decision for the Thunder game.
It is not official that Anthony will sit out today’s game vs. the Thunder, which is set to tip off at 1:30 p.m. CST.
Anthony sprained his left ankle in the third quarter of the Knicks’ last game vs. the Orlando Magic.
Without Anthony, the Knicks stand just about no chance of beating the Thunder at MSG today. Even with Anthony in the lineup it was going to be a big task for the Knicks getting the win at home.
The Thunder are coming off a loss to the Toronto Raptors in their last game. That was the first home loss of the year for the Thunder and ended a nine-game winning streak.
The Thunder lost back-to-back games just once this season, a road back-to-back vs. the Clippers and Warriors. It’s hard to imagine this Knicks team handing the Thunder another loss in a row today.
Without Anthony, we can expect the Knicks to potentially start J.R. Smith in his place. Iman Shumpert will likely be the man checking Kevin Durant from the start of the game. The other likely starters for the Knicks are Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton and Andrea Bargnani.
