For the sports collectors and shoe aficionados who have been waiting with bated breath, the wait is finally over. Kevin Durant’s seventh signature shoe has finally been unveiled. May I present to you, the “KD7 35,000 Degrees”
For those of you wondering about the inspiration behind the new moniker, 35,000 degrees is the average temperature of a lightning strike. What I also noticed about that number is that it’s his jersey number times 1,000. Then again, I’m sure that can be chalked up to simple coincidence. Yes. Despite Oklahoma City’s NBA franchise being named the Thunder, the inspiration for Durant’s seventh signature kick was actually its visual counterpart. The name is also an homage to Durant’s insights of wanting to be “lightning-quick” on the court. It makes sense, seeing as Durant’s game, as well as his frame, is obviously built and tuned for speed more so than power. Get a big body on Durant in the low post, and he’s useless. Get him all alone in the open court, and you might as well put the 2 or 3 points on the board already, based on where he decides to shoot from.
Heck, just the pictures alone seem to allow you to smell the freshness of this shoe over your computer monitors. I’m just digging the slickness in its style over here. But if the bright mango just isn’t your style, they also come available in “Easy Money” and a special red, white, and blue pattern set to release in the next 3 days, as a special “Independence Day” edition. Honestly, My favorite part of the shoe is the forefoot strap that goes over the laces. It just adds an aesthetic quality you don’t always see in other sneakers, high tops, or basketball shoes these days. Plus, there’s an aspect of the forefoot strap that isn’t immediately noticeable, but is definitely “KD” in its style. The aspect I’m referring to is the family tribute he added to the forefoot strap. Inscribed on the base of it are the names of his mother, Wanda, his grandmother, Barbara, his father, Wayne, and his brother, Tony.
I think I’ve given you just about everything I can on the new KD7. If you like what you see, you can purchase them from your local sporting goods or footwear retailer as of right now. Why wait? Get your pair today!
