Welcome to Thunderous Thoughts. The final week of the tournament has come. Which song will be crowned the Official Theme Song of the OKC Thunder?

One day after Russell Westbrook made history and (in my opinion) clinched the MVP trophy, we make history here at Thunderous Intentions. That’s right, we’re finally crowning the official theme song of the OKC Thunder.

It’s been a long road, filled with very few twists and turns, but it’s all come to an end. It came down to the number one seed, ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC battling the number two seed, ‘Thunder Rolls’ by Garth Brooks. Both songs rattled the competition en route to rumbling victories without much blow back from the competition.

The final contest was a thrilling battle. The underdog jumped out to an early lead as Thunder fans refused to vote for a song sharing the same name as that terrible movie.

But as the votes piled up, ‘Thunderstruck’ took the lead and easily pulled away. The contest wasn’t close. My personal pick fell without much of a fight.

Congratulations……

Since ‘Thunderstruck’ is now the official song of the Oklahoma City Thunder, let’s take a look at the lyrics and relate them to Oklahoma’s favorite basketball franchise.

"I was caughtIn the middle of a railroad trackI looked roundAnd I knew there was no turning backMy mind racedAnd I thought what could I doAnd I knewThere was no help, no help from you"

Well, this seems pretty relatable. Are we sure AC/DC didn’t predict the future with this one? Do we now have to listen to every song in this tournament a dozen times to see if there are any other clues? I think it’s our job as Thunder fans to do this. We need to see if Enes Kanter will be traded in the offseason and these songs are the only way to know what will happen.

"Went through to Texas, yeah Texas, and we had some funWe met some girlsSome dancers who gave a good timeBroke all the rulesPlayed all the fools"

I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing. If Oklahoma City hopes to head back to the Western Conference Finals, they’ll have to go through Texas. Hopefully there are no dancers that give them a good time, but that they continue to break the rule and make critics look like fools.

For the rest of the song,  “Thunderstruck” repeated 100 times.  Brian Johnson screaming that word over and over again is much better than watching that ‘Like Mike’ rip-off.

Congratulations to ‘Thunderstruck’ for their dominant run. And thank you to everyone that voted and supported this effort. I promise to never do it again.
