The Thunder were able to go up 8-7 at the 9:03 mark, but the Mavericks would subsequently score 9 unanswered to take a 16-8 lead with 6:56 to go in the opening quarter. The Mavericks pushed their lead to 23-10 with 4:26 remaining in the period, but the Thunder would end the 1st on a 17-5 run that gave them a 27-25 lead.

It would eventually become a 21-5 run that gave the Thunder a 31-25 lead 10:42 to play in the first half. The Mavericks worked their way to a 46-46 tie with 3:51 to go in the half, then went on a 10-0 run to take a 56-46 lead with 33.9 ticks left until halftime. Two Singler free throws cut the lead, but the Mavs were still taking a 56-48 lead into the locker room.

Although Singler’s two free throws were the start of a 33-11 run that gave the Thunder a 79-67 lead with 1:55 remaining in the 3rd. The Thunder ended up taking an 85-74 lead into the 4th quarter.

The Mavericks cut the lead to 85-78 with 10:54 to play, but the Thunder would then hit on a 12-2 run to give them a 97-80 lead with 7:49 remaining. Not done yet, the Mavericks would spark a 26-10 run that cut the Thunder lead to 107-106 with 1:06 to go. A Durant pullup jumper provided the last 2 points of the final score, as three Mavericks 3-point attempts would fail to fall. The Thunder’s 109-106 win gave them a 3-0 season series lead, and propelled them to 33-12 overall. The final game of this season series is scheduled for Feb. 24th.

Durant finished with 24 points, Westbrook scored 16, Ibaka dropped 14, and Nick Collison pulled down 11 rebounds starting in place of the injured Adams, who was nursing a strained right elbow. Kanter ended his night with 16 bench points to add to Dion Waiters’ 13 and Singler’s 10.

Chandler Parsons scored 26 points, Deron Williams posted 22, Dirk Nowitzki had 14, and Wesley Matthews had 13. JaVale McGee was good for 11 from off of the Mavericks bench.

Another night of rest would come before traveling to Brooklyn to take on the Nets. The Nets were looking to end the series in a 1-1 split after losing the first contest 110-99 on Nov. 25th, 2015. Westbrook was good for a 27-point, 13-assist double-double in that contest.
