149. Final. 98. 142. 114

It was staying close early, with the Thunder clawing their way to a 13-12 lead at the 7:39 mark of the 1st quarter. It wouldn’t last, as the Thunder went on a 15-2 run to push their lead out to 28-14 with 3:29 left in the period, creating some breathing room. The Wizards would work to cut into the lead, but the Thunder were still up 36-26 going into the 2nd.

There were no significant runs in the 2nd quarter, and the Thunder were actually able to extend their lead to 64-52 by halftime.

The Wizards worked to cut the lead to 74-67 with 6:41 remaining in the 3rd, but the Thunder would score 8 unanswered to take an 82-67 lead with 4:56 to play in the quarter. Not only were the Wizards unable to cut into the lead for the remainder of the quarter, the Thunder actually pushed the lead out further, up 92-76 going into the 4th.

The Thunder had gone up 96-78 with 10:47 to play, but the Wizards would finally hit on a run, scoring 9 unanswered to cut the lead to 96-87 with 8:57 remaining. The Thunder would finally hit back with 8 unanswered to build a 104-87 lead with 6:56 left in the game. That run proved to be the dagger, as the Thunder took a 114-98 victory to sweep the season series 2-0, and improve to 37-13 overall.

Westbrook finished with a 17-point, 13-rebound, 11-assist triple-double. Ibaka posted a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double. Durant dropped 28 points to add to Adams’ 10. Kanter was good for 14 from off of the Thunder bench.

John Wall and Marcin Gortat were good for 17 points apiece, while Otto Porter Jr. splashed in 13. Bradley Beal was good for 18 bench points.

The Thunder would get one night of rest before finishing off their home stretch by attempting another season series sweep. This one would be against the Magic, a team that hung around for 2 overtime periods before finally falling to the Thunder 139-136 on Oct. 30th, 2015. Westbrook posted a 48-point, 11-rebound double-double to go with Durant’s 43-point, 12-rebound double-double in that contest.
