OKC Thunder: Top-10 players in franchise history
By Tony Heim
3. James Harden
Harden’s time in Oklahoma City may have been cut short, but he made the most of it.
The third pick in the 2009 draft played three seasons for the Thunder, all as the star sixth man. His final season with OKC ended with the then 22-year old winning the Sixth Man of the Year in 2012. Harden helped lead the Thunder to the NBA Finals that season when he tore apart the Spurs for 18 points a game on 50% shooting.
As we all know, Harden was traded that offseason for salary cap reasons. Ultimately, it was for the best for Harden because he was able to reach his full potential by running the show in Houston. Would his growth have been stunted similar to Serge? Guess we will never know…
