OKC Thunder Film Festival Episode 6: Enes Kanter – The passing big man
By Gideon Lim
Improving labor productivity:
As the Thunder’s Sixth Man, there has been never been any doubt Enes Kanter is one of the team’s most important players. Especially with Paul George’s arrival, the OKC Thunder are even more hard-pressed to hang onto talent this year.
However, the bigger storyline GM Sam Presti is surely conscious of is the notion of long-term flexibility.
Even before committing new contract money to Russell Westbrook and Paul George, the OKC Thunder are already in luxury tax territory. Enes Kanter is essentially the fourth “max contract” player on the team, after Westbrook, George and Adams.

All out of lives:
Last postseason, Kanter became the butt of Twitter jokes after James Harden put him on a carousel. Unfortunately, it is unlikely the situation is going to change much this year. The OKC Thunder can accept that.
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
But, Kanter needs to make sure his offense goes up another notch. Last season’s game film showed with the right coaching and eye for passing, Enes Kanter can be very hard to guard. As the OKC Thunder make a run at Western royalty, Kanter needs to toughen his shoulders for an even heavier offensive load.
Given the ongoing suspense, the difference between making the Conference Finals and an early playoff exit could be the difference between one superstar staying in OKC or jetting off to LA. And, it is not just Paul George who’s in the conversation.
To whom much is given, Enes, much is expected.
Thunder Up.
Next episode, we will be covering the Stache and his brick wall screening for the Thunder.
