RENO, NV – MARCH 17: Rashawn Thomas #5 of the Oklahoma City Blue during an NBA G-League game against the Reno Bighorns on March 17, 2018 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev.  Copyright 2018 NBAE (Photo by David Calvert/NBAE via Getty Images)

#40 Rashawn Thomas, Forward

At 6’8 Thomas can play a few different positions. At age 23, he also played for the OKC Blue a season ago. Per game he turned in 13.9-points, 7-rebounds, 1.5-steals. This offseason he inked a partially guaranteed contract.

The Oklahoma City native will be a feel good story for Thunder fans if he can crack the NBA rotation some day. He had several offers to play overseas ball, but as you can tell Thomas wants to put in the work to eventually play for his hometown.

At some point the hope is one of these OKC Blue players will take the next step. Given Josh Huestis, Dakari Johnson and slew of others before them have failed to keep a roster spot with the main club for longer than a season. It sure would be great to witness one of the OKC Blues players be developed and stake a claim with a cemented role provided consistent serviceable minutes. It seems unlikely Thomas will break that trend, but surprises can happen in Vegas. Just ask Jonathon Simmons.
