2018 NBA Summer League: OKC Thunder vs. Toronto Raptors, game preview
What and who to watch:
OG Anunoby and co:
With an NBA Summer League roster comprised of so many wings it hasn’t afforded fans the opportunity to see OG’s best. With DeRozan, Lowry, Ibaka and even Valanciunas (over 40 percent from deep) the floor spacing is entirely different. More was expected from Alfonzo McKinnie who hasn’t played up to his potential (perhaps a sign of just how vital these games are to their future).
It won’t be surprising if Nurse elects to not play Anunoby too much since he knows what he has in OG. Nor will it surprise if he plays and beasts. If the small forward does get copious minutes watch all the little defensive things he does. And, catch his fundamental set up to catch corner three’s. He’s a coaches dream and due for another big step up the ladder in the coming season.
TFerg needs a breakout game for his confidence:
In what was expected to be the Terrance Ferguson show has been anything but. He delivered decent defensively, but his offense hasn’t arrived in Vegas.
Moving forward (should he get minutes) it would behoove him to bust loose and put up some impressive offensive stats. If for no other reason than his confidence.
