OKC Thunder Grades: Mavericks end streak and trample in victory
By Asad Jamal
I promised a Surprise on this page and here it is! We have two Reserve categories for the Thunder after tonight’s “amazing” game!
OKC Thunder Best Reserves:
Now, you may be asking yourself: Why are these two getting the best reserve grades and why are they A+ grades despite playing a total of 1 minute and 38 seconds of the game in garbage time? Well, you just answered your own question.
They get these grades BECAUSE they played less than two minutes of the game. In a game where the bench didn’t show up, it seems like a better shot of winning would have come from the bench not showing up to the game. What I’m trying to say is the Thunder’s bench was vomit-inducingly bad today and most of that can be contributed to our newest candidate!
OKC Thunder Worst Reserve:
Congratulations to Raymond Felton for playing so poorly that I had to create a whole new category of grade just for him. Look, I’m not trying to pick on the guy. I mean, I’ve got nothing against him except that he is completely out of shape, shot 6 triples today despite shooting 0% on 2.4 attempts per game this season, and forgot he is a point guard and should be facilitating to his teammates as well instead of chucking up 12 shots he does not deserve to take.
Oh, I guess I do have something against him then. Billy Donovan needs to keep Felton in check and working for the system or he needs to give Deonte Burton or Abdel Nader a chance instead.
Best Opponent:
More from Thunderous Intentions
- Stealing one player from every Southwest Division team for the OKC Thunder
- Should the OKC Thunder chase after a disgruntled hometown hero?
- 3 OKC Thunder players who can step up in Aleksej Pokusevski’s absence
- Aleksej Pokusevski sidelined approximately 6 weeks with ankle injury
- Damian Lillard does not fit with the OKC Thunder
The stars are aligned for this future star and this game showcased why. It was easy to see that Luka Doncic is and will be a dominant player in this league for many years to come. He played confident defense and truly “did it all” on offense by stuffing the stat sheet tonight. This kid is special, and that’s all I can say for the moment.
Final Thoughts
- OKC shot lights out tonight, and by that I mean they shot as if they were shooting in the dark with no visible view of the basket.
- As disturbed as I am by this performance, the reality is that the Thunder are still a great team and are contenders in the western conference.
- With a team full of people trying to find their shots still, there will likely be more nights like these in the near future, but hopefully the Thunder will have fixed their shooting woes by playoff time.
- Luka Doncic is officially my favorite rookie. I just thought you should know that.
