A-. . PG. Oklahoma City Thunder. RUSSELL WESTBROOK

Following the loss to the Bulls and TEN turnovers it was clear Westbrook would arrive tonight determined to produce a better effort.

It’s commonplace  for him to bring 100 percent effort every night. Yet, you just know deep down last season’s oust by the Jazz probably fueled him with extra inspiration.

Russ struggled with his shot the entirety of the game. It seems tied to him not using his legs. Rather, he’s trying to just use his upper body. Perhaps someone better suited to break down film to isolate on his mechanics can speak to this. But, it does appear like he’s either not fully comfortable with his lift, maybe is protecting his knees/ankles or perhaps he’s still a bit rusty.

Westbrook did deliver another triple-double of 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as he continues to average the incredible mark this season. He was far from happy with himself as he was caught talking to himself, shaking his head and when he exited for the final time at 1:26 of the foruth quarter threw his arm sleeves down in disgust.

Two things caught my attention in this game which were more impressive:

First: Russ was actively engaged on defense and remained so throughout the contest.

Second: When he was subbed back in to stop the bleeding (14-3 run) he repeatedly engaged Nerlens Noel. As an onlooker – it did feel like there was a message being sent to Dennis Schroder who more often that not falls in love with calling his own number.

Don’t get me wrong Schroder is balling and been a major positive for the team. Having said that, it’s also important the German keeps his bench mob engaged. That includes giving Nerlens touches on offense so he stays engaged.
