With limited assets in the kitty, the OKC Thunder only have one serious shot at Anthony Davis but it might need help from the Sacramento Kings to do it.

The Anthony Davis sweepstakes began as the New Orleans big man finally requested a trade out of the Big Easy. With the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers at the helm of the NBA rumor mill, the OKC Thunder feel like an unrealistic landing spot for the 25-year-old superstar.

However, Sam Presti could make it happen with the assistance of the Sacramento Kings.

While there’s little incentive for Vlade Divac to help Oklahoma City as both are in the same conference competing for the playoffs. For the first time in 10 seasons, the Kings have an outstanding core led by young guns De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield.

However, Sacramento would benefit greatly by acquiring a legitimate big man to anchor its defense to compliment the young guards. The Kings rank 21st in defensive efficiency (110.2) and will rise into serious contention should their defense enter top 10.

While fans must understand the Davis to OKC is a long shot, there is a method to the madness. Sam Presti is one of the most aggressive General Managers in the league and has pulled off some stunning trades in the past. With Russell Westbrook and Paul George as its cornerstones, Presti knows he has a three-year window to win a chip.

Let’s prime the deal before we look at the singular trade that brings AD to OKC.
