OKC Thunder Film Room: Thunder go down 3-1 in series
By Rylan Stiles
McCollum is still the best wing on the floor.
McCollum was the Blazers leading scorer with 27 points. Paul George scored 31 but on 38 percent from the floor, compared to McCollum’s 50 percent from the floor.
George was tasked with defending the Portland guards and was fine, but not his usual defensive player of the year self. PG says he is pain free, but it is clear he is not. He can not fight through screens anymore, and it is hurting his defense and the teams.
I expect George will be getting offseason surgery again following this series, and you just have to hope as an OKC Thunder fan or even just a basketball fan that he does not do anything in game five to further hurt his shoulder before he can get to the operating table.
Paul George and Russell Westbrook reverted back to an iso heavy your turn my turn offense. Which again, you can not do when the other two stars are better than you. Look at this play, which they only run once this game, of Paul George coming off a Terrance Ferguson screen, for an open corner 3-pointer.
Jerami Grant was really good going three for five from three on his way to scoring 11 points. Grant also missed a dunk which did hurt the teams’ comeback. Donovan played Grant at the five a little bit late in the game, and the defense got a lot better. That is a move I could see the team going to much earlier in game five as Donovan fights for his job.
Al-Farouq Aminu posted 19 points and was left open in the corner for three seemingly all game, and knocked down four of them which ties as many as Lillard hit Sunday night.
Ferguson went one for six from three, and almost every miss was a wide open corner 3.
The wing battle goes to the Trail Blazers.
