NBA Free Agency Atlantic Division Primer – The Eastern Powerhouse
Philadelphia 76ers
Situation Entering Offseason:
Key moves were made by new General Manager Elton Brand to aggressively acted to trade for Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler. The fact they came up one shot short of moving onto the Eastern Conference Finals only served to showcase how close they were from potentially winning the whole thing.
But, they are equally as close to losing Butler, Harris and even JJ Redick who should draw some solid offers from other teams.
Salary:
Cap Space: $ (31,853,663.00)
Floor Space: $ (50,546,926.00)
Max Space: $ 61,446,926.00
Projected Space: $ (31,853,663.00)
*as per Keith Smith of Real GM
Key free agents to re-sign:
Its essential Brand retains at least one of Butler or Harris plus Redick to keep his floor spacing. Failure to do so would set back the 76ers who jettisoned out assets and picks to become a relevant threat. The 76ers still has Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons but they aren’t enough just on their own and Simmons will need to be addressed next season when his contract becomes due.
