The OK3 era was filled with fun times and also disappointment.
The Thunder had their first big moment in the OK3 era on the night before Thanksgiving. I remember buying those tickets as soon as they went on sale. Wanting to be in the building for the first time the new-look-Thunder who actually had a chance to beat the Warriors took on Kevin Durant.
The Thunder knocked off the Warriors 108-91 and gave us another great moment in the Kevin Durant Russell Westbrook beef.
I remember this moment as clear as day. In the building when Russell Westbrook poked the ball free, then came together with Kevin Durant. I lost my voice cheering on the scrappy Westbrook for getting into it with Durant. Carmelo Anthony, who heard the exchange from the two players laughed and clapped along.
When Russ and KD went forehead to forehead that was the loudest I have heard a Thunder crowd in a long time.
At the time, the Thunder were dominating the Warriors, and Paul George and Steven Adams broke up the exchange.
The Thunder made a defensive stop once play resumed and Paul George nailed a transition three sparking Steve Kerr to call a timeout. Russell Westbrook immediately urged the crowd to get even louder and even put his hand to his ear asking for more applause.
Being in the building for that moment was one of the most fun experiences I have had at Chesapeake Energy Arena, and I have been going to games since it was branded as the Ford Center.
However, it still did not even rank as the best moment that season!
