No. 2) OKC Thunder newcomer Al Horford taking charge

Al Horford looks like he’ll be the OKC Thunder’s 2021 version of Chris Paul.

Not only is he sharing his great veteran experience but he’s also putting up big numbers. He led the Thunder with 17 points and eight rebounds. This included four massive shots from the three-point line and shooting six of nine from the field.

Throughout the game, it was clear that the chemistry between him and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is already strong. And his mentorship of Pokusevski is starting to show.

As Brandon Dale of TI previously noted, Horford’s consistency through the course of this season is important if the Thunder are to achieve success.

It’s great to see Horford establishing these early connections with his teammates as it could be similar to what Chris Paul had with his young Thunder teammates last season.

We all love how that turned out and it could possibly be an indication that once again this team is going to surprise some people.
