Shifting focus back to OKC here’s the topical news for the day.
Enes Kanter’s Father remains in jail:
The saga continues for Enes Kanter. He’s now struggling with news his father sits in jail, awaiting interrogation by Turkish officials.
Erik Horne of News OK offers the full story here.
"If Kanter had it his way, his father, as well as his mother, younger sister and brother, would be in America with him. Instead, his father remains jailed, awaiting interrogation on Monday in Turkey. Kanter’s hope is that his family will join him in the United States someday. It’s a wish easier said than done. Two weeks ago when Kanter had his passport canceled by the Turkish government and couldn’t gain access into Romania, Homeland Security and teams of lawyers worked for his speedy return to the U.S. Since then, Mehmet – a genetics professor with a medical degree – has been immobilized by the Turkish regime Kanter speaks out against."
Marriage Proposals:
Despite the terrible circumstances Kanter finds himself mired in, some news is of the more positive and amusing nature. Since Enes is country-less at the moment, it seems a few OKC Thunder fans stepped up. Offers to provide resolution are arriving via marriage proposals.
Andrew Kennedy of Clutch Points provides the details:
"Through this time, Thunder fans have shown their love and support for Kanter, who has become one of the most likable players on the team since his arrival 2015. Some fans have even gone as far as to offer to marry Kanter in an effort to help him gain citizenship quicker in the United States."
Dakari Johnson seeks roster spot on varsity squad:
