OK City punks Lakers and closes gap to 1 game

The Thunder defeated the Lakers sunday night, sending the 2 time defending champs to their 5th straight loss. It was a thrilling game all the way to the last minute, but when it was all over all I could think of was “sorry L.A., It huuuuuuuurts!!!!”

Ok city looked like the better team throughout the entire and closed within 1 game of Dallas and the Lakers for the 2 or 3 seed. All three teams have 2 games remaining and at this point nothing would shock me. It’s like that sweet little kid always said in the movie “Angels in the Outfield,” “Heh, it could happen.” The Thunder might just move up, which is something that seemed improbable even just a week ago. Oklahoma City closes out the season with an away game at Sacramento tomorrow night followed by hosting the Bucks on the last day of the NBA regular season. The Kings have been playing well lately but barring anything crazy the Thunder should be able to win both of those games and hope LA or Dallas chokes.

Never drink a “redline” and then don’t work out. I’m begging you. Don’t do it. Tonight I made the mistake of planning to work out, downing one of those things then didn’t leave my house again as I was curled up under a blanket feeling like Smokey in the movie “Friday” when he ended up in the chicken coop. Not a good look. Oh yea not only did I not work out but when I finally did work up the courage to leave the house, I went to KFC and ordered half the menu and now I feel like dying. Heh, at least the Thunder won.

I was excited that the game was to be broadcasted on NBA TV so that I could actually listen to the game be broadcasted by real professionals. Alas, it was not meant to be. I forgot that since I live in San Diego, they broadcast every single Laker game here on fox sports. This is the first full Laker game I have watched on fox sports which shows you what I think of the champs. Why don’t I just tell you. I hate them. I never thought I could like Utah or San Antonio more then any other team in the entire league but I was wrong.

I have hated them since the day they traded Shaq, probably my favorite player of all time. I have never liked anything about Kobe Bryan’t personality, but tonight I noticed what a handsome guy he is so I can’t blame that girl in Colorado for not being able to resist the black mamba. I hate how they got Pau Gasol for basically nothing, as he is one of the most skilled big men in the NBA. I still can’t get over it. How was that possible? The Nuggets just got 3 high quality players and a white Russian for Carmelo and the Grizz gave up Gasol for what was thought of at the time as nothing? Was there really not a better offer on the table? Derek Fisher left for more money to Utah then his daughter had an eye problem and he claimed the doctors were better in LA, so they traded him back there at his request. Are you kidding me? I could give you a million more reasons why I hate the Lakers but I’ll stop now so we can move on to the game.

Kevin Durant once again led the Thunder in scoring with 31 points on 11 of 15 shooting and hitting all 8 of his free throws. Russell Westbrook was exceptional in the first quarter and in the last 3 minutes scoring 26 points, with James Harden and Dr. Nasty adding 16 and 15 points apiece. It was truly a joy to watch K.D. hit a vast array of shots including, floaters in the lane, long high arching jumpers, one 3 pointer, and a few dunks. He’s gonna be special for a long time. Westbrook was on fire early and he when he is hitting his jumper it’s virtually impossible to stop him as he continues to mesmerize with his incredible drives to the rack. Of course my boy, the “offensively challenged” Ibaka was hitting jumpers and dunking all over the place. I love when opposing announcers continually come away impressed with this guy. He is truly slept on, and can play with anyone.

The rest of the Thunder fit in perfectly tonight, with every player who stepped on the court contributing nicely. I really liked what I saw out of Maynor, Daequan Cook, and even Nick Collison. Perkins came up flaccid after popping off about how soft Gasol and Kobe were, scoring 2 points and grabbing 5 rebounds but maybe its his scowling that gets the team pumped up. In my life I have never heard so much mentioned about a player who averages around 6 points and 6 boards in his career. It is truly remarkable how much pub this guy gets. What has he ever done? They make a big deal about the Celtics going into a free fall after trading the Perkulator, but he only played in 11 games for them on the season. Like, enough already. That doesn’t mean I hate the trade though. Or does it?

Two more games till playoff time, which could be some of the most intense postseason action in years. It’s gonna get uglier then the Master P sneaker, and I’m gonna be there every step of the way giving you the inside scoop. Could the Thunder win it all this year? Heh, it could happen.
