We all know that Jackson wants to be a starter and wants to be paid like one. That’s not going to happen in Oklahoma City with Russell Westbrook around. Head coach Scott Brooks teased fans with the possibility of Jackson starting at shooting guard last season in the playoffs, but that didn’t carry over into this season. However, Jackson still found himself on the floor at the two-spot during crunch time with Westbrook and Kevin Durant.

With Waiters now on the team, Jackson’s crunch time minutes will (and already have) drop off as Waiters is a natural shooting guard and a more consistent all-around player.

Ever since Westbrook and Durant returned from their early-season injuries, Jackson looks disinterested when he’s on the floor. While he played well in their absence, Reggie and the Thunder failed to produce wins. Now that the two superstars are back and poised to make a run at the final playoff spot, Jackson has turned into a shell of what we’ve seen from him over the past couple of seasons. He’s never been a great defender, but his offensive talent kept him on the floor. Now he’s settling for one-on-one possessions that end in long range jump shots instead of attacking the rim or getting his teammates involved.

Things likely won’t get any better now that Waiters is around taking minutes and possessions from him, making an already disgruntled Jackson just a little more agitated.

So it’s time for Oklahoma City to move on from #15.
