The Thunder have never been viewed as a perfect team. Far from it, in fact. From their iso-heavy offense, to the seemingly questionable trades, and a reputation of “penny-pinching”, the Thunder have not been without their issues even when things have been nearly perfect. That said, this season has tested a previously indomitable core like no other. The two recent wins have optimism surrounding the team on the up-tick but even that optimism is cautious at best. Shaking up the starting line-up maybe the best step toward nudging “optimism” into a potential playoff run.

Obviously there’s a variety of ways the Thunder could tweak the rotation beyond even what I wrote about above. Still, the most obvious answer is pulling the trigger on Waiters as a full-time, starting guard. While both Morrow and Jackson would likely be upgrades over the still developing Roberson, it’s Waiters who has shown that he could be the guy to pull Oklahoma City into the playoffs and hopefully beyond.  From his renewed effort on defense to his quickly improving shot selection, Waiters has done everything humanly possible to remove the stigma that followed his time in Cleveland. Not only has he done that but he’s also brought energy and toughness to a reeling Oklahoma City team without it’s former MVP. Simply put, if Dion can change, why shouldn’t OKC?
