Driving back to work after heading home for lunch is probably not the best time to receive this alert:
There have been rumors over the past few days – rumors that I had largely ignored or taken with a grain of salt – of Brooks’ firing, but the one thing I couldn’t shake was the plan of Sam Presti. You can read more about the firing in other posts.
I don’t know a thing about Presti, except that he’s the Thunder’s general manager and traded for a player who looks an awful lot like a 6’10” version of himself in Steve Novak, but I would guess that the man is an exceptional chess player. If Presti takes a trip somewhere, he’s going to make sure that he doesn’t sleep until 8:01 because that’s part of the 3 minutes he’s planned to brush his teeth. Presti doesn’t make a single move without thinking about the repercussions of said move and then the repercussions of those repercussions.
What I’m trying to say is Presti already has his mind made up of who he wants to be the next coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Whether or not that person will take the job is another discussion, but he has his mind made up on who he wants.
While I’m nowhere near the most qualified to do so, I’m going to try to identify the coaching candidates he will consider, and some that he’ll float to keep people off his scent (looking at you, Woj).
