In the offseason there is no basketball to watch so people spend their time criticizing players, which makes it easy to forget how good somebody is.

Since Kanter was a restricted free agent, he has been a lightning rod for criticism the last couple of weeks, especially defensively. Although everybody will admit Kanter is a good offensive player, he can be far better than that. There are very few big men who can do what he can offensively.

These five games serve as a reminder to what Kanter can bring to the Thunder. If he can even become respectable on defense (he has time as he’s just 23), the added dimension of a low post scorer can pay major dividends for OKC in the playoffs.

With a healthy roster, don’t expect Kanter to put up these numbers as often next season, but the skills that he demonstrated will be vital to the Thunder’s potent offensive attack.
