Freddie Brown

Fred Brown, known best as “Downtown Freddie” Brown, is a SuperSonics legend, a high-scoring gunner that was a pivotal part of the team’s championship season. In 13 seasons with the team, none of which he served as the team’s full-time starter, he averaged 14.6 points, 3.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

He was an all-around playmaker, but was best known as an incredible shooter, even notching a 44.3 percent conversion rate from three-point range once the shot was introduced to the NBA in 1979. His silky-smooth release and seemingly unlimited range made him a fan favorite; by the time he retired, he held many of the team’s records for points (14,018), steals (1,149), assists (3,160), and minutes played (24,422). His 58-point outing on March 23, 1974 remains the best single-game scoring total in franchise history.
