Top 5 Power Forwards in OKC Thunder History
Michael Cage
Before there was Nick Collision, there was Michael Cage. Those who are too young to have watched any ’80s basketball (like myself) probably don’t understand the true impact Cage had when he was on the court. His tenacious rebounding and stout defense was key to some Sonics teams that made a few deep runs into the playoffs.
Similar to Collision, Cage’s statistics weren’t his only source of impact, as his hustle and energy were extreme factors. Unlike Collision, Cage actually had many statistically impressive seasons.

During his prime, Cage averaged close to a double-double in nearly every season. In what would probably be considered his most impressive season in 1987-88, he averaged 14.5 points per game and 13 rebounds per game.
Cage’s rebounding numbers were definitely inflated by his excellent offensive rebounding. During this season he averaged 5.2 offensive rebounds.
Cage is currently the Thunder’s local TV announcer and gets to continue to make an impact on a franchise he put his heart and soul into while he played for them.
