Serge Ibaka
Aside from Anthony Davis, there may not be a more athletic power forward in the game right now than Serge Ibaka. He also probably has the most unique skill-set of any big man in the NBA.
Ibaka is arguably the most proficient shot-blocker and rim protector in the league. He led the league in total blocks for four straight seasons until Davis took that title from him this season. What makes Ibaka so unique is his shooting ability coupled with his all-world rim protection.
For a while now, Air Congo has been a crazy efficient shooter in the mid-range. Last season, he expanded his range out to behind the arc and shot an excellent 37.6%. There is no other big man in the league who can pack a shot on one end, run the floor, then catch the ball from deep and drain it.
In addition to being a defensive anchor and efficient offensive player, Ibaka is also one of the toughest players in the league. His toughness was put on full display when he returned a week after tearing his calf to Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals and led the Thunder to a win.
It was honestly very hard for me not to put Ibaka at the top of this list. The ability he has to turn a game by himself with his intimidating defensive presence and shooting prowess is unmatched. By the end of his career, he will likely be the best power forward this franchise has ever seen. As of now, he can’t be because this next guy is not too shabby.
