No. 2 – Bob Rule

Drafted 19th overall in the 1967 draft, Bob Rule is fourth all-time on the team’s points per game list at 21.4 PPG and third on the team’s rebounds per game list at 10 RPG. Rule only spent five seasons with the SuperSonics, but a double double average is nothing to scoff at. A torn Achilles tendon in 1970 cut his career and production short.

Rule was the second ever draft pick in Seattle SuperSonics history and the first to succeed. His 18.1 PPG as a rookie was a franchise record for 40 years until some kid named Kevin Durant broke it in 07-08 with 20.3 PPG. However, he still holds the franchise record for most points in a game by a rookie with 47.

It looked like Rule was going to be one of the greatest players of his generation, but he never recovered from torn Achilles tendon. Medicine in the 1970’s wasn’t quite what it is today.
