Trade Talk: KD Backup, More Guards, And A Wild Win Now Move
By Ali Ahmed
The Thunder are rolling, folks.
Except for a few panic worthy hiccups to start the season, Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder find themselves cruising both on the court and in the standings. Sitting at third in the West behind the Warriors and Spurs, the Thunder seem to be finding a balance with their rotation heading towards the All Star break.

Still, there has never been a perfect roster that allows a GM to forego their duty to actively search for ways to improve. Thunder GM Sam Presti has done a fabulous job constructing the deep and talented team we’ve seen nightly this season. Last February, while most teams were executing shortsighted deals with the current season in mind, Presti was scheming on how to have a well-balanced team ready for Kevin Durant’s eventual return the following year. The holes left at the backup point guard position and in the paint were addressed meticulously. If that wasn’t enough, Cam Payne‘s recent breakthrough in the lineup is just another win for front office.
But does this team need more?
We really can’t ask for much this February. To be frank, this team is complete. However, if the Thunder are lurking in the waters come February, I’d snap up either a viable backup for KD, another scoring guard to add to the mix, or hey, why not go all out with a win-now trade to bring in a star? Here are some potential trade options this season.
