The Thunder started strong with a run that had them up 9-0 at the 10:24 mark of the 1st quarter. They were up 29-24 with 3:30 remaining in the period, but the Warriors ended the 1st quarter on a 12-2 run to go up 36-31.

The run finally ended at 16-2, putting the Warriors up 40-31 with 10:30 to play in the first half. Then, up 46-39 with 7:37 remaining in the half, the Warriors sparked a 14-1 run that put them up 60-40 with 4:44 to go until halftime. The Thunder would work to cut the Warriors’ lead, but the Warriors were still up 73-59 at halftime.

The Thunder had cut the lead to 73-63 with 10:32 to play in the 3rd quarter, but the Warriors hit on a 10-2 run that put them ahead 83-65 with 6:58 to go in the period. That’s when the Thunder buckled down, sparking an 18-8 run that cut the lead to 91-83 going into the 4th.

The Warriors had pushed their lead to 99-88 with 7:36 to play, but the Thunder responded with a 16-5 run that tied the game 104-104 with 3:36 remaining. Unfortunately, the Warriors ended the game on a 12-4 run that gave them a 116-108 victory, putting the Thunder down 1-0 in the season series, and dropping the Thunder to 38-14 overall. The Thunder will get another crack at the Warriors in Oklahoma City on Feb. 22nd.

Durant finished with a 40-point, 14-rebound double-double to go with Westbrook’s 27-point, 12-assist double-double. Adams was good for 12 points. Kanter was the only bench player who provided help, posting a 14-point, 15-rebound double-double.

Stephen Curry ended his night with a 26-point, 10-assist double-double. Harrison Barnes added 19 points, Klay Thompson dropped 18, and Draymond Green pulled down 15 rebounds. Marreese Speights added 15 bench points to go with Shaun Livingston’s 10.

There’s only two Thunder games this week, as the Thunder travel to Phoenix to play the Suns Monday night, and come back home to host the Pelicans on Thursday night.  It all culminates in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game this Sunday night. Check back with Thunderous Intentions throughout the week for recaps, and I’ll see you back here next week.
