Round Table Discussion: OKC Thunder at a Crossroads
By David Ramil
Dion Waiters might be more polarizing than ever. Is it finally over? Is it time to leave our crumbling property on Waiters Island slip into foreclosure?
Ramil: I have been a big supporter, blindly overlooking the things he does so poorly (namely shooting) and focusing on the magical combination of false bravado and lack of production that he embodies. I won’t say it’s over (never!) but he is starting to look broken, past the point that he can confidently push past it. I look forward to years of Chinese League highlights for the future MVP.
Hixon: It’s been over for a while. If you haven’t left the island yet, I’m not sure you’re leaving after two bad games. If you do decide to leave, us here on the mainland will welcome all refugees.
Barbee: I’m usually at least a little supportive of Waiter, but he was AWFUL against Indiana and Cleveland. He looks lost and seems to have no confidence. This is a step down from his normal “lost and very confident.”
Hallett: I was on the island for a long time, he was playing defence and contributing as a team man. He is now playing against starters and being exposed. He is possibly playing himself out of a contract with the Thunder next year, move on and develop someone else.
Woods: I’ve sworn off talking about Waiters until he does something well. I feel bad for him.
