Kevin Durant’s Top 10 Moments with the Thunder

9. Rookie of the Year Award
I know that technically this didn’t happen while Durant was in Oklahoma City, but it’s something that needs to be acknowledged. Not many were surprised when Durant was named the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year. He was the second overall pick in his draft and everyone had high expectations for him.
What was a little surprising though was just how naturally the NBA came to him in his rookie season. If you didn’t know any better you would’ve thought he’d been around the league for a while already. Just look at his rookie stats.
20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.9 blocks, 1.0 steals
Numbers like that just aren’t common for rookies. Durant entered the league playing like he belonged and hasn’t stopped. His first year stats helped him beat out Rookie of the Year runner-up Al Horford by 60 first place votes. This award marked the first of many to come for Durant.
