Kevin Durant’s Top 10 Moments with the Thunder
By Ben Bundy
7. Consecutive Games with 20+ Points Streak
On April 11 of this year the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers played a seemingly meaningless game in Oklahoma City. The Thunder won that game 112-79, and Durant scored a game-high 34 points. While the game may not have mattered, Durant’s performance certainly did.
The game marked Durant’s 64th consecutive game of scoring at least 20 points. While that stat may not mean anything to you yet let me put it into perspective. It’s the second longest streak since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976. The longest streak in that time is Michael Jordan’s 72 games in 1987.
Longest 20+ Point Scoring Streaks since 1985
Michael Jordan- 72
Michael Jordan- 69
Kevin Durant- 64*
Kobe Bryant– 63
Kevin Durant- 56
*active streak
To make the number even more impressive, Durant had to leave a game at halftime earlier this year against the Washington Wizards after injuring his hamstring. Had that not happened he likely would’ve broken Jordan’s record this season. Durant will go into next season with his 64 game streak still in play. That means there’s a very good chance that he could break Jordan’s record early next season.
