2. Kevin Durant

That’s right.

KD would be on top of this list if Russell didn’t announce the biggest contract extension in Oklahoma history. Durant was a demigod in Oklahoma from 2008-July 3rd of 2016. They loved him the way Cleveland loves LeBron.

Durant’s decision cannot take away from the immense impact that he has had on the city and state. Professional basketball would not be as popular in OKC if it weren’t for KD. Oklahoma City was home to the BEST BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE WORLD in the 2013-2014 season, and they loved him for his generosity to the state.

He helped lead them to the NBA Finals in just his fifth season in the league. He was a scoring champion four times. He did everything we asked. And then he left for the team he couldn’t beat.

That’s why he will never be the greatest Thunder player ever.
